Catherine E. Langston, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), Associate Professor

Dr. Langston graduated from Louisiana State University, completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at The Animal Medical Center, and a fellowship in renal medicine and hemodialysis at the University of California, Davis. She has been the head of the AMC Renal Medicine Service and Hemodialysis Unit at AMC since 1999.

Her current clinical interests include treatment of chronic kidney disease, complications of hemodialysis, and treatment of anemia of chronic kidney disease. She is one of the conference organizers for the Advanced Renal Therapies Symposium.

JD Foster, VMD, DACVIM (SAIM)

Dr. Foster graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After working in small animal private practice, he went on to complete an internship at VCA Norwalk, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin. His training in extracorporeal therapies was achieved from UC-Davis, where he was the first long-distance nephrology fellow under the training of Dr. Larry Cowgill.

He was a faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he has reopened an extracorporeal service providing hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, and plasma exchange. In 2016 he joined Friendship Hospital for Animal team. His research interests include nontraditional uses of extracorporeal purification, acute kidney injury, and glomerulonephritis.
