Rebecca Kirby

Dr. Rebecca Kirby graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri and she is a specialist in small animals’ internal medicine and emergency medicine and intensive care. As one of the pioneers in the field of intensive care and emergencies for 21 years she was the owner of Animal Emergency Center. She has held the position of assistant professor and head of the Section of Emergency Medicine at the Veterinary School at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kirby taught in more than 24 countries and has been awarded the Lecturer of the Year at the North American Veterinary Conference. Her articles, books and research contributed to the development of veterinary medicine and inspired many students to specialize in emergency medicine and intensive care. Dr. Kirby started the first residency program in emergency medicine and in this specialty she developed more than 20 residents. Among the honors of Dr. Kirby we should mention choice for Vet of the Year 2001 by the American Animal Hospital Association, Ira Zaslow Distinguished Service Award granted in 2003 by VECCS and Hills Award for Excellence in Veterinary Medicine, which was received at the Congress of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association in Mexico year 2005.
