David C. Twedt

Dr. David C. Twedt graduated from Iowa State University and entered an internship and medicine residency in gastroenterology at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Twedt then joined the staff of the Animal Medical Center and was also a research associate at the Liver Research Center of Albert Einstein Medical School. He then joined the Faculty at Colorado State University and the Department of Clinical Sciences where he is a Professor.

Dr. Twedt, Board-certified in 1977, is an active member of the ACVIM community and has provided distinguished service for more than ten years in every capacity. Dr. Twedt started his service on the ACVIM Forum Committee as Chair of the Small Animal Internal Medicine section and just five years after becoming a Diplomate he became President of the Specialty of Internal Medicine.

He has won many awards, including the 2004 Norden-Pfizer Distinguished Teacher Award, the 2010 CSU Exceptional Practice Management Skills Award for PVM Education, 2012 WSAVA International Scientific Achievement Award, and the 2013 ACVIM Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Twedts clinical specialities are: gastroenterology, liver disease and endoscopy. His research interest involve copper associated liver disease, feline liver disease, chronic hepatitis and stem cell therapy.
