SternJoshua A. Stern, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVIM (Cardiology)

Joshua Stern is an associate professor of cardiology at the University of California, Davis.  He currently serves as the Chief of Service for Cardiology and as the Small Animal Clinic Director for the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. He works in the clinic at UC Davis and is a member of the Center for Companion Animal Health. His clinical interests include mechanisms of arrhythmia, inherited heart disease and medical management of cardiac disease.

Dr. Stern is an active researcher in veterinary cardiology, canine genetics and pharmacogenomics. He operates a cardiac genetics laboratory that trains graduate students in addition to cardiology residents.  Dr. Stern has authored more than 70 publications and frequently lectures internationally on the topics of veterinary cardiology and genetics.  He is an associate editor for the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology and a Small Animal Advisory Board Member for the Morris Animal Foundation. 

He is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he also completed a small animal rotating internship.  Dr. Stern completed his cardiology residency through North Carolina State University and earned his PhD through research and graduate studies with Washington State University Veterinary Cardiac Genetics Laboratory.
