Profesor Stephen P. DiBartola, DVM, DipACVIM;

Prof. DiBartola dyplom lekarza weterynarii uzyskał w 1976 roku na University of California, Davis. Swoje praktyki lekarskie odbył na Cornell University, a rezydenturę na Ohio State University. Obecnie zajmuje stanowisko profesora i prodziekana na Ohio State University. Jest dyplomowanym lekarzem weterynarii ACVIM w zakresie chorób wewnętrznych. Od 1997 roku redaguje czasopismo "Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine".

Jest współautorem fenomenalnych podręczników: Fluid Electrolyte and Acid-base Disorders in Small Animal Practice, Canine and Feline Nephrology and Urology, a także autorem wielu badań naukowych, artykułów oraz rozdziałów w cenionych podręcznikach weterynaryjnych, m.in. Blackwell's Five-Minute Veterinary Consult: Canine and Feline czy Kirk's Current Veterinary Therapy.

Who was your most memorable patient?

Peaches, a little dog with acute renal failure. It was neither the dog nor the disease that was memorable but the circumstances. Peaches' veins were blown, and her intravenous catheter was clotted and had to be replaced. I was complaining about how I'd never hit a vein on the dog, but Maxey Wellman, a veterinary student who was restraining Peaches, talked calmly into the dog's ear and said, "Oh, Peaches, don't worry. I just know we'll get this catheter in with no problem." The contrast in our attitudes spoke volumes to me. I've been married to Maxey now for 27 years!
